My grandma was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and over the years, I watched her slowly deteriorate. Her mobility declined, and she started getting sicker from medications that were supposed to help. We trusted the diagnosis because that’s all we had—there was no objective test, no biomarker, just clinical observation.

Five years later, we found out she never actually had Parkinson’s at all. All that time, she was treated for a disease she didn’t have because there were no clear diagnostic tools to confirm it. That realization hit me hard.

It felt unbelievable that in modern medicine, something as serious as Parkinson’s could be diagnosed purely by symptoms. I started talking to neurologists, researchers, and caregivers across the ecosystem and learned my family’s experience wasn’t rare—misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis happen all the time.

That’s when I knew I had to do something. I founded MindMend Biotech to help change how we understand, diagnose, and treat neurodegenerative diseases, so families like mine don’t have to go through years of uncertainty, misdiagnosis, and unanswered questions. My goal is to bring clarity, compassion, and scientific precision to a space that has lived too long in the gray areas of guesswork.”
